I just want to quickly say to all the dads and guys out there who struggle with the look of their own body that I see you and want to give you a hug.
We're told we're not really supposed to talk about our bodies or tell one another that you look great in that shirt unless we're talking about someone who is an elite athlete with zero body fat. We don't tell each other that the bathing suit you're wearing is awesome and that I want one just like it. We have bodies and we are left to deal with our image of them on our own.
The pressure on men to look a certain way isn't the same as the pressure we put on women, but it exists. It exists because more often than I would like to admit, I used to look at myself in the mirror and pick on each stray hair or every rounded curve that my brain told me should be muscle.
It still happens from time to time and while we joke about dad bods and such, I understand that you sometimes feel bad about your body. And because your brain won't always accept your own opinion, I'll tell you right now that your body is awesome.
Your body is amazing. And that's really all I want to tell you, one guy to another.
